Pak Nam Pran, an unpolished gem: A trip back to 2011.
An unpolished gem near Hua Hin.
Approximately thirty kilometers south of Hua Hin, lies the quaint town of Pak Nam Pran. Until recently, it was a sleepy seaside village, but slowly it is starting to awaken. The journey to Pak Nam Pran takes you on a scenic route, away from the bustling city life.
From Hua Hin, you follow the road towards Market Village, the well known shopping center, and continue towards Kabiab. At the junction, you do not turn towards Kabiab, but instead, take a right turn towards Pran Buri.
As you continue driving, you encounter three traffic lights in succession, and at the third one, you make a left turn. After possibly asking for directions along the way, you eventually arrive in Pak Nam Pran. The place is not comparable to its larger sibling, Hua Hin, but it possesses a special charm of its own.
Pak Nam Pran offers a less touristy experience, allowing you to enjoy the tranquil beauty of the area. Walking along the spacious beach, you can take in the breathtaking view of rocks emerging from the sea, children playing in the sand, and colorful fishing boats moored on the shore. It is a picturesque scene that captures the essence of a peaceful coastal town.
One notable accommodation option in Pak Nam Pran is the Hansar Hotel, situated in the Sam Roi Yot District of Changwat Prachuap Khiri Khan. This hotel provides a comfortable and relaxing stay, complemented by the surrounding natural beauty.
The town is also dotted with various dilapidated seating areas, huts, and beach bars, adding to its rustic charm. These humble structures provide a glimpse into the local way of life and create a laid back atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding.
For those seeking outdoor activities, Pak Nam Pran offers opportunities for kiteboarding and windsurfing, thanks to its consistent sea breeze. The pristine waters and uncrowded beach make it an ideal destination for water sports enthusiasts.
In addition to the beach, the nearby Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is worth exploring. This beautiful park is home to limestone mountains, caves, and a diverse array of wildlife. Exploring the park's trails and observing its natural wonders is a must for nature lovers.
While Pak Nam Pran may still be relatively undiscovered, its charm and unspoiled nature make it a hidden gem. A visit to this coastal town allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of more touristy destinations and immerse yourself in a peaceful and authentic Thai experience.
Whether you are looking for a serene beach getaway, an opportunity to engage in water sports, or a chance to explore nature, Pak Nam Pran has something to offer. It may have been an unpolished diamond in 2011, but its allure continues to grow, attracting those seeking an off the beaten path destination in Thailand.
