The allegedly jealous American Steven Timothy Rowe is wanted for murder.
The American teacher is wanted for killing of a Buriram teenager whose decomposed body was found in a garbage bag atop a South Pattaya restaurant.
Police are investigating the murder of 19 year old Anusra Paja, who went missing on February 15th from her apartment above the Sita Lanna hair extension shop near Tukcom. The half naked remains of a body, believed to be hers, were found stuffed in a black plastic bag on the roof of the Le Petit Planete restaurant two doors down on March 18th. The suspect, identified only as "Tim" and thought to be in his mid '40s, is being sought by police.
Police forensics experts are testing the remains to confirm the victim's identity, but Anusra's aunt, Dao Bunsawat, tentatively identified the body from an ankle bracelet. Restaurant owner Virawan Yiewsae discovered the body while investigating a foul smell.
Anusra had been reported missing by friends when she failed to join them on a trip to Koh Larn in February. Witnesses reported seeing her boyfriend waiting outside her apartment when she returned to get some clothing. Dao told police that Anusra had been seeing "Tim" for several months but had recently begun distancing herself and seeing other men, which had caused numerous serious fights.
Police allege that "Tim" killed Anusra after having sex with her, knocking her out before taping her mouth with purple tape, tying her into a blanket with a belt, and stuffing her into the garbage bag. He is believed to have fled through a window and over a low wall to hide the body on the restaurant's roof, where Anusra likely suffocated to death.
Authorities are checking with immigration sources to determine if "Tim" has already left the country.
June 2014, the 48 year old American teacher Steven Timothy Rowe arrested for killing his girlfriend.
After a manhunt lasting more than three months, Steven Timothy Rowe, a 48-year-old American teacher accused of killing his girlfriend in Buriram, has been apprehended in the town of Makkhaeng in Issan.
Rowe was arrested on June 7th by Chonburi and Udon Thani police, who found a passport belonging to 19 year old Anusra Paja, the victim in the case, in his possession. Paja was reported missing in February when she failed to join her friends on a trip to Koh Larn. Her body was found on March 19th by a restaurant owner in South Pattaya after Rowe allegedly stuffed it into a garbage bag and left it on the restaurant's roof.
According to Aunt Dao Bunsawat, Paja had been seeing Rowe for several months but had recently begun distancing herself and seeing other men. This allegedly angered Rowe, causing numerous fights.
Police claimed that Rowe killed Paja by knocking her out after they had sex, then taping her mouth with purple tape, tying her into a blanket with a belt, and stuffing her into the garbage bag. Rowe then fled the scene, quitting his job at an English and Computer College in Bangkok and wandering around Thailand before being caught in Udon Thani. Rowe has been charged with murder and hiding Paja's body.
