Suvarnabhumi Airport (also known as Bangkok International Airport) is the main international airport serving Bangkok, Thailand.

It opened in 2006 and is located at Racha Thewa in the Bang Phli district about 30 kilometers east of Bangkok. The airport has a single terminal building with two concourses, and it is one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia, handling over 60 million passengers annually. Suvarnabhumi, "Su-wan-na-poom" this name was chosen by King Bhumibol Adulyadej and means “The Golden Land”, a traditional name for the Thailand-Cambodia-Laos-Burma region. All was designed by the architects of Murphy/Jahn Architects. The code is still the same when Thailand had only Bangkok Don Muang International airport, the IATA code is BKK for Bangkok. The code for Dong Muang is now DMK

The airport has 2 parallel runways and 2 parallel taxiways to accommodate departures and arrivals. It has 120 parking bays (5 for accommodating the Airbus A380 ). With a capacity of 90 flight operations per hour, international and domestic flights. It will be capable of handling 75 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of cargo per year. Suvarnabhumi have 125 passport control checkpoints for arrivals and 70 for departures with 22 baggage conveyor belts. There are 360 check-in counters for passengers. Between the terminal are the two car park buildings with a capacity of 5,000 cars.
