July 2012, Sean Tinsley is held over vicious attack on teacher Adam Pickles.
A 43 year old British man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly carrying out a road rage attack in Thailand. The victim was a teacher at an international school. Pickles was attacked with a wheel brace after a vehicle incident in which he scraped another car while getting out of a parking spot.
He was brought back to the UK after an international appeal for funds, but remains in a coma at Leeds General Infirmary. He had left Thailand after the alleged attack but was arrested upon his return at Bangkok International Airport. CCTV footage and witnesses have been studied, and feelings have been running high in the resort. Pickles parents have had to remortgage their home and plunder savings to cover the costs of their son's rehabilitation, who suffered a setback when the stitches from his original operation became infected and required more surgery.
Thai court hears Adam Pickles case.
According to a report of court proceedings related to the attack on him, an international school teacher who remains in a coma in a hospital in Britain, his partner testified in court that she believed Sean Tinsley attacked him because he scratched his car while reversing out of a parking space. The attack occurred outside the Paradise bar and he allegedly returned to the Starlight bar and boasted about his action to friends after the incident.
Adam's partner also testified about the expenses incurred by the family due to the attack, which included hospital fees and air ambulance transfer to England, as well as lost earnings since he was a teacher at the Regent’s school and had substantial earnings. She stated that she wanted the alleged attacker to receive criminal punishment and pay for damages.
During the proceedings, the defence lawyer questioned Adam's partner about her relationship with him, how they met, whether she knew his family, and suggested that he liked fast motorbikes, drinking out on weekends, and was bigger than the attacker. The defence lawyer's questioning appeared to be aimed at discrediting both Adam and his partner.
Frustration over attempted murder of British schoolteacher.
The attempted murder who has been in a coma since being attacked in Pattaya in May 2012, has caused frustration for his mother, due to the delayed verdict on the man accused of the attack. The verdict has been delayed for a second time at Pattaya Provincial Court, and Adele Pickles expressed her anger at the Thai legal system for the impact it has had on her family. Local MP Alec Shelbrooke also commented that justice must be seen to be done and that a just outcome is achieved. The delay in the verdict was apparently caused by papers being sent to the wrong court.
Sean Tinsley, who has been on trial for attempted murder, used to run the Visa Shop in Pattaya and had close relationships with local police and immigration police. Several of his clients were arrested and had to pay heavy fines of 200,000 baht each after they bought visas from him in and around 2007. Passports were initially sent to Phuket for stamping. Later, he allegedly switched his operations and started sending passports to the Thai Consul in Cardiff, who seemed to stamp anything and everything.
These visas were useless as the passports did not contain entry stamps to Thailand, which authorizes visas issued abroad. When the holders started leaving the country, they were picked up at the airport by immigration police, but no cases were brought against him.
It is alleged that Tinsley went into a rage after Pickles scraped his car. he has been on bail throughout the trial.
Released on bail.
The release of Sean Tinsley, has caused outrage among Pickles friends and relatives. He was released on bail to appeal to Thailand's supreme court, despite being shown on CCTV apparently boasting about the attack. Tinsley was acquitted at his trial, but the family changed their lawyers and appealed.
He was recently jailed on an assault charge and fined £114,000, but now the family is seeking to reinstate a charge of attempted murder. It is common for foreigners to flee Thailand during the criminal process by paying large bail bonds, and there is a belief that the courts prioritize cash over justice.

Is he a man on the run or is he intending to pay his debt to society? Tinsley, a questionable visa agent who was convicted of assaulting, has been preparing to leave while on bail and appealing to the Supreme court.
He was sentenced to six years in jail and a fine of 6.2 million baht (£114,000) after being found guilty of assault at the Appeal court. He was previously cleared of attempted murder. Could he be raising funds to pay the fine? That is unlikely, as the payment is not due until the court makes its decision, which could take some time. It seems that he either does not believe he is innocent or does not believe that the court will rule in his favour. It is anticipated that he will flee. They has set bail at over 1 million baht, which is a substantial amount, and the court can keep it if he runs. The family will receive compensation under the decision.
