Dutch teacher Reinold Klunder gets 22 years for abuse underaged boys.
Nov 2017, Reinold Klunder has been arrested for abusing children under 15 in Thailand.
Happened in Smorprong in Hua Hin. In the home, police found a boy of ten. Stained sheets, six computers, two cell phones, two tablets, memory cards and CDs were seized and taken as evidence. Toys were also found. He lured the children along by saying they could enter his pool for nothing, fed them and then had intimate contact with them. He made videos of this which he forwarded to his pedophile friends. He had worked in real estate in Hua Hin and told people he was a musician. The arrest followed information from the Netherlands, where he also had charges pending against him. The attached photos show him with two boys. Presumably taken in 2013.
May 2018, Dutch paedophile Reinold Klunder receives 22 year prison sentence in Hua Hin.
According to a report in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Reinold Klunder, a Dutchman who was arrested in Hua Hin for child abuse towards the end of last year, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service confirmed the sentence.
Klunder, aged 51, was apprehended in November at a property in the Smorprong area near Bor Fai, where he admitted to being a paedophile. During his arrest, a ten year old boy was found at his residence. It is believed that Klunder would invite boys under the age of 15 to his home and engage in sexual acts with them after swimming sessions. He would then share videos of these incidents with other paedophiles.
The police reportedly acted on a tip from Dutch authorities, who had previously investigated him, a real estate businessman, and obtained a search warrant for his home in Hua Hin. He allegedly enticed children by inviting them to swim in his pool and by playing music. He was known to have played the organ in various locations in the Netherlands and continued this practice at his residence in Thailand.
He frequently posted recordings of his music on social media. According to De Telegraaf, the Dutch community in Hua Hin was not surprised by Klunder's arrest, as rumors of his sexual misconduct had persisted. He was often seen with boys at a local food court and frequently found in the company of young boys.
It is understood that Klunder pleaded guilty to the charges, leading to the 22-year prison sentence, which is half the possible sentence of 44 years for the multiple offenses. He had previously been reported for child abuse in the Netherlands but had relocated to Southeast Asia approximately 15 years ago. He settled just north of Hua Hin and earned money by renting out holiday homes.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to comment on the case but provided consular assistance. While some locals expressed surprise, with one neighbor stating, "I was told he was a private music teacher and that he gave free lessons to the kids," many others had a different impression but apparently did not take action regarding their concerns.
