Steps to deal with the post Thailand depression.
Thailand travel blues.
The truth is, Thailand is an incredible place to be. If you make the most of it, you'll have an amazing time and feel like a king.
However, for the majority of men out there, this wonderful experience must eventually come to an end. They must leave the fantasy world and return to their mundane, monotonous lives.
Upon returning home, they miss Thailand within a day. By day two, they're already planning their next visit. By day three, they're reminiscing about all the women they hooked up with and regretting having left.
Subsequently, depression sets in. The job becomes less satisfying, and everything that once mattered, such as paying bills, running errands, playing games, and spending time with friends, seems unimportant and dull.
This happens to nearly everyone I've met who has had a great time in Thailand. It even happens to me when I go back to my homecountry for a few weeks.
There's something about Thailand that you yearn for when you leave.
How can you overcome this feeling?
- Acknowledge the feeling.
Firstly, it's important to recognize that this feeling is normal and experienced by both men and women. Although it may not be pleasant, it's a common occurrence.
- Find a replacement activity.
To counteract the feeling of loss, find a new activity to fill the void. Personally, I enjoy going to the gym, as it not only occupies my time but also improves my overall mood due to the release of endorphins during exercise.
- Allow time for healing.
Give yourself time to heal and adjust back to your normal life. For myself and others, it typically takes about two to three weeks for the feeling of longing to begin to fade, and for life to feel normal again. Be patient and allow yourself the necessary time to recover.
Good advice.
In conclusion, my final advice is to refrain from partying excessively in your hometown until you start to feel like your old self again. Engaging in such activities while still feeling the effects of post Thailand depression may exacerbate negative emotions, leading to a deeper sense of despair.
Instead, attempt to reintegrate yourself into your daily routine as soon as possible. This can include catching up on work, running errands, and spending time with friends and family. Doing so can provide a sense of stability and normalcy, which can help alleviate feelings of disorientation and uncertainty.
Additionally, it may be helpful to start planning your next trip to Thailand. This can serve as a beacon of hope, providing you with something to look forward to and reminding you of the positive experiences you had in the past. By doing so, you may find it easier to cope with the negative emotions associated with post travel depression.
And then; The next holiday to Thailand.
And after a few time has passed, it may be time to embark on another adventure in Thailand! This can be an exciting prospect, as you will have had ample time to save up money, plan your itinerary, and get excited about all the amazing experiences that await you.
In the interim, you may have also had time to reflect on your previous trip(s) and identify areas where you'd like to make improvements or try new things. Perhaps you'll explore a different region of Thailand, or delve deeper into the culture and history of the country.
Regardless of what you decide to do, the prospect of returning to Thailand can be a powerful motivator, providing you with something to look forward to and helping to mitigate any negative emotions you may have experienced in the past. So why not start planning your next adventure today and look forward to another incredible trip to the Land of Smiles!
