Narrow escape, a terrifying boat journey to the island.
Against all odds, escaping disaster on the boat trip.
A group of friends embarked on a boat trip to a stunning island off the coast of Pattaya. The day started with clear skies and scorching temperatures. The plan was to meet at 9 am on Jomtien beach and sail from there.
The group consisted of six friends, two of whom were Harry and Robbie, who had been training at a nearby camp. Two Hagenees, Kees and Hanny, were also present, along with Pieter, who had a connection to a local Dutch coffee shop. The group was completed by the wives of Harry and Robbie, referred to as Pook and Ning.
As they set sail, the sea was calm, and the journey was expected to last about an hour and a half. However, as they approached the island, they encountered a rougher sea with strong undercurrents. Ning, Robbie's wife, tried to swim to the shore but struggled against the current and nearly drowned. Robbie, being a top sportsman, managed to rescue her, but the group was left in panic on the boat, unsure of what to do.
Kees, who was at the helm of the boat, did his best to get as close as possible to Ning and Robbie. He threw a life preserver to them, and after a few attempts, they managed to grab hold of it. With Kees steering, the boat sailed away towards the north of the island, where they unexpectedly found a beautiful white beach.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they rested on the tranquil beach. They enjoyed drinks, sandwiches, and a barbecue with the fresh seafood they had purchased. However, as the afternoon approached, dark clouds gathered, and the sea started to become rough again.
The storm hit as they were heading back to Jomtien. The boat was tossed by the waves, and the group became frightened. It took about twenty minutes of intense storming before they finally arrived safely back at Jomtien beach.
Once back at the hotel, they discussed the day's events and acknowledged the power of nature. The experience had left them shaken, and they decided never to take such risks again. They learned the importance of being cautious around unfamiliar waters, watching out for undertows and currents. They also realized the significance of having life jackets and life buoys on board for emergencies.
Despite the thrilling experience, they concluded that the beautiful beach they discovered was worth cherishing forever.
