PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse – From Anna Jet Bar to A7 DJ Bar, a Soi 7 Story.
PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse – Memories and Milestones on Soi 7.
In the constantly evolving nightlife of Pattaya, few places reflected change, continuity, and character as clearly as PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse on Soi 7. Located near Second Road, this long-running beer bar and guesthouse experienced several transformations over the years, each marking a new chapter in its history. Known at different times as Anna Jet Bar, PJ DJ Bar, and later A7 DJ Bar, the venue remained a familiar name to regular visitors who followed Pattaya’s bar scene through the 2000's and 2010's.
Soi 7 and Its Atmosphere.
Pattaya Soi 7 held a distinct place within the city’s nightlife landscape. Smaller and more relaxed than Walking Street, yet livelier than many surrounding areas, Soi 7 was known for its compact beer bars, easy conversations, and steady mix of tourists, long-stay visitors, and local regulars. Its proximity to Beach Road and Second Road made it accessible, while its atmosphere stayed informal and approachable. Bars on Soi 7 often relied less on spectacle and more on personality, familiarity, and consistent service.
Within this setting, the bar that would later become PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse established itself as a dependable stop. It was not designed to impress through size or luxury, but through a sense of comfort and continuity.
The Anna Jet Bar Era.
Originally operating under the name Anna Jet Bar, the venue was co-associated with Anna and Pete. During this period, the bar functioned as a typical Soi 7 beer bar, offering cold drinks, casual seating, and friendly company. It also included guesthouse rooms above or nearby, making it attractive to visitors who preferred to stay close to the action while keeping accommodation simple and affordable.
Anna Jet Bar fit well into the Soi 7 rhythm. Days were generally relaxed, while evenings brought more activity as foot traffic increased. Regulars appreciated the informal atmosphere, where staff and customers often knew each other by name. Like many Pattaya bars of that era, relationships between owners, staff, and patrons were personal and long-term rather than purely transactional.
Eventually, Anna’s involvement with the bar came to an end. After finishing her partnership with Pete, she moved to Jomtien, closing one chapter in the venue’s story and setting the stage for its next transformation.
Pete Takes Full Ownership.
Following Anna’s departure, Pete became the full owner of the bar. This change in ownership marked a significant moment, not because the bar dramatically reinvented itself, but because it continued under a more clearly defined direction. Pete had already been closely involved as a long-time part owner, and the transition allowed him to put his own stamp on the venue.
In autumn 2012, the bar was renamed PJ DJ Bar. The new name reflected both continuity and renewal, signaling a fresh phase while maintaining the bar’s existing customer base. Importantly, the core identity of the venue did not change overnight. PJ DJ Bar remained a beer bar and guesthouse, serving the same Soi 7 crowd that had supported it for years.
PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse.
Under the PJ DJ Bar name, the venue continued to operate successfully. By October 2014, it was still described as going strong, a notable achievement in a city where bars often came and went quickly. Bar fines at that time were reported at around 300 baht, placing the venue squarely within the normal range for Soi 7 and reinforcing its image as accessible rather than exclusive.
The guesthouse aspect remained an important part of the business. For visitors who preferred a straightforward room close to nightlife, PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse offered convenience and familiarity. Staying above or near a bar was not for everyone, but for some guests it was part of the Pattaya experience, providing immediate access to nightlife and social interaction.
The bar itself maintained a relaxed, friendly style. It was not known for loud promotions or extreme themes. Instead, it relied on regular customers, word-of-mouth reputation, and the steady flow of Soi 7 foot traffic. This approach helped it survive during years when Pattaya nightlife was becoming increasingly competitive and commercialized.
Changing Times on Soi 7.
Pattaya continued to change. New developments, shifting tourist demographics, and evolving regulations all influenced the bar scene. Soi 7 remained active, but the character of its nightlife slowly adapted to new expectations. Some long-standing bars closed, others rebranded, and new management styles emerged.
PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse existed within this environment of gradual transition. Its strength lay in stability rather than trend-following. For many regular visitors, that consistency was precisely what made it appealing. It represented a familiar Pattaya, one rooted in personal interaction rather than large-scale entertainment concepts.
Sale and Transition in 2020.
In February 2020, news emerged that the bar had changed hands. The sale marked the end of Pete’s ownership and another turning point in the venue’s history. As with many Pattaya bars, ownership changes were not unusual, but each transition carried emotional weight for regulars who associated the place with specific people and periods.
Following the sale, the venue continued operating under new management and adopted a new name: A7 DJ Bar. While the name changed, the location and basic function remained the same. This continuity helped maintain recognition among returning visitors, even as management and internal dynamics shifted.
A7 DJ Bar – Continuing the Lineage.
Under its new identity as A7 DJ Bar, the venue carried forward the legacy of its previous incarnations. It remained part of Soi 7’s established nightlife fabric, benefiting from the street’s reputation and foot traffic. For those who had known the bar as Anna Jet Bar or PJ DJ Bar, A7 DJ Bar represented both change and survival.
The continuation of the business under new management highlighted a common Pattaya pattern. Bars often outlast individual owners, accumulating layers of history rather than being defined by a single era. Names change, people move on, but the physical space and its role within the nightlife ecosystem remain.
A Place Within Pattaya’s Memory.
Looking back, PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse stands as an example of a typical yet meaningful Pattaya venue. It was not famous on an international level, nor did it attempt to redefine nightlife. Instead, it served its purpose steadily, offering drinks, accommodation, and social connection to thousands of visitors over the years.
From its early days as Anna Jet Bar, through Pete’s full ownership and the PJ DJ Bar era, to its continuation as A7 DJ Bar, the venue mirrored Pattaya itself: adaptable, resilient, and shaped by the people who passed through it. Its story reflects how Pattaya nightlife was built not only by legendary clubs and famous streets, but also by smaller bars that provided continuity and community.
In the broader history of Pattaya Soi 7, PJ DJ Bar & Guesthouse remains a remembered name, tied to a specific time, place, and way of life. It represents the everyday reality of Pattaya nightlife in the past, where familiarity mattered, change was constant, and each bar carried its own quiet legacy.
