Dave's restaurant was a long running venue in Pattaya's Soi Chaiyapoon.
Little info about this place at Soi Pothole.
'Crazy Dave's', a beloved restaurant and bar located just off Soi Bua Khao next to Oasis a go go, was once a hotspot in the city. One of the remarkable features of this establishment was its availability to serve breakfast 24 hours a day, catering to all those in search of a hearty meal at any time.
While it may not have been deemed the finest culinary experience in Pattaya, this venue certainly stood out for its excellent value for money. Customers could relish in delicious curries and mouthwatering Chilli Con Carne, which were among the specialties of the house.
Visiting this nostalgic place meant encountering the man himself and his wife, who always provided a lively atmosphere for patrons. The memories of their vibrant presence added an extra touch of charm to the place. However, not all events were positive. In the past, the restaurant faced a serious accusation that shook its reputation to the core. Mrs. Warin Lee Philips, also known as Linda, the owner found herself embroiled in a food poisoning scandal.
Mrs. Warin headed to the Pattaya Police to report an incident involving defamation and threats from a foreigner. She recounted that on an evening, a European couple had dined at the bar and departed around 8:30 pm. To her surprise, the husband returned at 1 am, claiming that his wife had suffered food poisoning from their meal and demanded a hefty compensation of 68,900 Baht.
Refusing to accept responsibility for something beyond the venue's control, Mrs. Warin firmly declined the compensation demand. She adamantly stated that her place maintained strict standards of cleanliness and only served fresh food, asserting that the wife might have fallen ill due to consuming something elsewhere.
However, the situation escalated when the same man returned a few days later, threatening to tarnish her reputation if she did not comply with his demands. He distributed flyers in English, defaming the venue and accusing it of serving low quality food. Disturbed by these false allegations, she took immediate action, reporting the incident to the police and seeking legal measures against the man responsible for defaming her restaurant.
The police recorded all the statements and collected the flyers as evidence. Their investigation aimed to uncover the truth behind the food poisoning claim and determine the intentions of the foreigner involved. Despite the unfortunate incident, many patrons attested to the exceptional quality of the food.
Their experiences consistently demonstrated the establishment's commitment to maintaining high standards. Speculation arose that rival restaurants might have orchestrated the scandal to undermine the success, known for offering delicious fare at remarkably affordable prices.
As time went on, the place underwent a transformation and eventually closed its doors in 2015. It was reborn as Boars Head, now situated on Soi Chaiyapoon. Dave bid farewell to his establishment after a remarkable 13 year journey.
Although he faced a setback with the food poisoning scandal, its legacy continues to thrive under a new name. Boars Head, located in Soi Chaiyapoon, has embraced the spirit of its predecessor, ensuring a warm and inviting environment for patrons. The establishment continues to offer an array of mouthwatering dining options that have delighted customers throughout the years.
Under the new ownership of Andy and his Thai wife, who previously served as the Chef of the old Stags Head (later known as Oscars on LK Metro), Boars Head has maintained the tradition of friendly service and affordable prices. Visitors can expect a delightful culinary experience as they indulge in the reasonably priced menu.
In addition to the delectable food, Boars Head provides comfortable accommodations on the upper floor starting at a reasonable rate of B7500 per month. This makes it a convenient choice for those seeking both a satisfying meal and a cozy place to stay.
While Dave may have encountered a challenging episode, the establishment has successfully reinvented itself as Boars Head. It has managed to preserve the essence that made it beloved by locals and tourists alike, ensuring that the legacy of Dave's lives on in a new and exciting chapter.
