The 19th Hole was a super place of international charm and entertainment.
A remarkable establishment situated in the heart of South Pattaya.
Situated in the heart of South Pattaya over two decades ago, offering an all in one experience of a superPub. This extraordinary venue consisted of three distinctive bars, a hotel with nearly twenty rooms, a restaurant, and a sprawling entertainment area. Back then, this famous place was a round the clock haven, open 24 hours a day and fully air conditioned, spreading across three expansive levels.
On the first floor, nestled within its walls, was the American Panini, a fast food joint catering to those seeking quick bites. The second floor, the main hub of the establishment, housed the restaurant, and various spaces dedicated to snooker, indoor games, and video games. Snooker tables were abundant in this region of South Pattaya, where pool, the American variant of billiards, dominated the playing field.
Almost every day of the year, chouettes (backgammon matches played among multiple players) and free games were organized. December and January marked the period for annual tournaments. Additionally, apart from backgammon, patrons could engage in classic and Thai chess, traditional and English checkers, and the immensely popular Power 4, a game commonly enjoyed in many venues around town. The latter served as an avenue for spirited interactions between customers and the attentive waitstaff.
During that time, affordable software programs encompassing all these games could be found in numerous specialized shops. The 19th Hole took pride in hosting tournaments each year, honoring the champions with cash prizes and bottles of champagne. Moreover, the establishment provided a special area boasting six gaming stations, featuring over 200 software titles for the entertainment of its esteemed patrons. The rates were reasonable, charging 100 THB per hour or 60 THB for 30 minutes of gameplay.
The availability of PlayStation 1 software at inexpensive prices was a common sight in specialized shops across Pattaya. To enhance the viewing experience, the 19th Hole accommodated six televisions, including a large screen, dispersed throughout the venue. It boasted two independent UBC subscriptions and another one from Sophon Cable, ensuring an extensive array of channels. Customers could relish live broadcasts of European championship leagues, thrilling car races, and gripping golf competitions.
Within the refreshingly air conditioned ambiance, it was a magnet for both foreigners and their Thai companions, who displayed remarkable proficiency in both the game of snooker and the art of seduction. As patrons indulged in thrilling games and engaged in friendly competition, the establishment ensured a memorable experience for all. The allure of the 19th Hole extended beyond its gaming facilities.
Visitors could choose between a fan cooled room for 2,000 THB per month or an air-conditioned room for 3,700 THB per month. Each room was thoughtfully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, table, and chair, accompanied by a private bathroom complete with a shower and toilet. Water and electricity usage were billed separately, providing transparency and convenience for guests during their stay. For those seeking shorter visits, the place offered a special day rate of 200 THB, catering to travelers with limited time to spare.
A culinary journey awaited guests at the restaurant, where three distinctive cuisines were masterfully prepared. Traditional French delicacies, authentic Thai dishes, and a wide selection of pizzas and Italian pasta delighted the taste buds of eager diners. The restaurant prided itself on offering an excellent price to quality ratio, allowing tourists to savor their time without breaking the bank.
The restaurant featured two tantalizing formulas. Formula 1 included a choice of a main course paired with either a starter or a dessert, priced at 210 THB. Formula 2 elevated the dining experience by combining a main course with both a starter and a dessert, priced at 250 THB. The starters featured delectable options such as the 19th Hole salad, Nizza salad, and a refreshing tuna tomato salad soup consisting of onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms.
The main course selection catered to various preferences, offering mouthwatering options like steak, chicken, pork fillet, kebab, fish and chips, and escalope with either a cream sauce or a Viennese twist. The pizza menu showcased delectable choices including the 19th Hole, campagnarde, romaine, and napolitaine. To enhance the culinary experience, an assortment of sauces such as mushroom, mustard, green pepper, red wine, Provencal, mayonnaise, and garlic butter were available. Diners could specify their desired level of cooking, whether rare, medium, or well done, and select from a range of accompaniments such as French fries, diced potatoes, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, or rice.
A delightful conclusion to the meal awaited with a selection of delectable desserts, including a refreshing fruit salad, fluffy pancakes with sugar, jam, or chocolate, decadent chocolate mousse, creamy ice cream (offering two delightful scoops), and a satisfying espresso to round off the dining experience.
It transcended the boundaries of a traditional pub, offering a comprehensive experience that encompassed gaming, accommodation, and delectable dining. Its international appeal attracted a diverse clientele, fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere. Whether visitors sought a relaxing game of snooker, a thrilling backgammon tournament, or a memorable dining experience, this nostalgic place stood as the ultimate destination.
The combination of international languages spoken within its walls, including French, English, German, Italian, and Thai, created a melting pot of cultures and added to the vibrant ambiance. The three levels provided a multitude of entertainment options, from fast food indulgence on the first floor to the excitement of snooker, indoor games, and video games on the second floor.
