Tasting Thai flavors for the first time and going on a culinary adventure in Thailand.
The nicest and best places to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, western or Thai in Pattaya. Try to really start from the beginning, so that was in the late 80s. Of course it was also because of the acquaintances who had been to Pattaya once or twice and who advised us and showed us the way.
First time in Thailand; Times of the Nescafé Instant Coffee, simple raw eggs with 2 small slices of toasted white bread, slice of fried bacon and a small sausage, the so called American breakfast, of course with a small glass of fresh orange juice. You could get this breakfast anywhere, but you did not have to take the sunny side up eggs that had just been in the pan for a minute.
First breakfasts.
A normal breakfast in Thailand from the beginning in the late 80s; Two pieces of toast, some cooked through scrambled eggs, a slice of tomato, cucumber and slice of ham. Not to mention; Strawberry jam and butter. Usually ordered a double toast, got four slices of toasted bread. Happy when went somewhere I was not familiar with and they could prepare this for me. During the years that passed in Thailand, also often took a full English breakfast somewhere approximately like the picture below, only the white beans in tomato sauce were missing.
Full English breakfast.
A full English breakfast can typically be found at many Western style restaurants, cafes and hotels in the city. A typical full English breakfast includes items such as eggs (scrambled, fried, or poached), bacon, sausages, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns and black pudding. Some places may also serve toast and jam, marmalade, or butter.
It's also common to find variations such as American style pancakes or waffles. It's also common to find variations such as American style pancakes or waffles. These types of breakfast can be found in many areas, including in the tourist areas such as Beach Road and Walking Street, as well as in the more local neighborhoods.
Had quickly learned to indicate with hand gestures that I wanted my fried eggs fried on 2 sides. And that coffee was nowhere good so switched to tea, not a success either at first. Either there were red ants in my cup or they were in the white sugar bowls by the dozens.
Usual day for food.
Start with breakfast as mentioned above, followed by lunch; The fried rice with chicken at Dongtarn beach was very good, as were all the fruit shakes, the pad Thai was also tasty. Dinner usually did at Cowboy Steak, Nang Nual or Lobster Pot, all well known restaurants in the Walking Street area.

Another nostalgic place for me was the Boat Bakery, also a favorite place from the beginning that I came here was Tip's Restaurant, one of the oldest places on the Beach road, sadly closed early 2010. Tip's was my first restaurant where I took an American breakfast.
One of the places I frequently visit was restaurant Fra Pattaya, located at the South Pattaya Road that time, near the corner to the Walking Street. The first restaurant on the first day I visited Pattaya 35 years ago for the first time.
The years went by and restaurants were added where I came regularly, such as Jomtien Boat House, Brauhaus, Big Horn Steakhouse, PIC Kitchen, Hoek van Holland, Sugar Hut, Ruen Thai, Klein Vlaanderen, Villa Oranje, Vientiane, Ons moeders, Mata Hari, El Toro, Gregs Kitchen, Hongsa Kitchen, Kiss Food, Suttangrak, Opal Kitchen, Bruno's, Alois, Amor and various small Danish Hot Dog stalls, kebab stalls, the Thai street eateries, many local Thai restaurants with delicious Thai food and of course Took Lae Dee, the restaurant 24/7 from Foodland.

A well know name in Pattaya; Greg's Kitchen.
Gregs started in 1997 on the Pattaya 2nd road Greg's Kitchen. In 2012 moved a little further more to Simon Drinking Street in North Pattaya, Greg's Kitchen, Café, Bar and Grill. Closed in 2017 and relocated all the way to the other side of Pattaya, the east side on Mabprachan Lake called Greg's Little House Cafe & Deli.
Some very famous exclusive restaurants with name; Alois, Casa Pascal, Mata Hari, Manhattans. I had to put on decent clothes because with shorts and flip-flops I didn't get in haha, so I didn't go there often either, not my style.
One of the oldest and the most famous Italian restaurant is Pan Pan, This well known location is on the way to Jomtien, past the Buddha Hill on the right side, delicious Italian food for a very long time already.
Kiss Food and Drink on the Pattaya 2nd road at the corner of Soi Diana. A place I'll never forget, open 24/7 and at all times I could go there for whatever you wanted, my favorite place to go after a night out, and sit down here a little drunk to grab a meal and watch all those new Farang/ Thai couples who just have a few hours a relationship.
Ruen Thai, Authentic Thai restaurant with classic Thai dance shows, located on the Pattaya Second Road, nearly opposite Soi Post Office. The restaurant is known for its traditional Thai decor and atmosphere, as well as its authentic Thai cuisine. These restaurants are very familiar to me and I will not forget them either. Visited and ate there with regularity; Queen Victoria in the famous Soi Yodsak or Soi 6, always wonderful to recover there with some good English food. Sportsman Pub and Restaurant, I arranged my visa trips through this store in Soi 13 between Pattaya Second Rd en the Beach Rd, in the morning before departure a good breakfast and after returning always a beer and delicious food.
Also regular I came there regularly, always good and cozy. Occasionally I was also in the Tequila Reef Cantina to find, sometimes tipsy from the drink and sometimes because I just craved good Mexican food at Soi 7. The Village Chippy, not so long ago, I think about 15 years ago, I also took an occasional Fish and Chips, because it was just in The Village at the Third Road where I also had my house.
The various breakfasts of continental breakfast were very tasty and the coffee also got better with age. Now I have plenty of choice, but the best breakfasts I have had and still take when I am in the area is Continental Bakery located at Soi X-Zyte and later in Jomtien and also two locations in Hua Hin.
Last Two nostalgic places.
Finally, enough about the restaurants, two other places where I came and then I stop it otherwise it will never end. A nice Mexican Grill at Bob's BBQ or a delicious Indonesian rice table at La Villa Bali. It depended on my mood and what I was hungry for where I ended up that day.
Pattaya has a diverse and delicious food scene. Some popular local dishes include Pad Thai (stir-fried rice noodles with vegetables and meat or seafood), Tom Yum Kung (spicy and sour shrimp soup), and Papaya Salad (spicy salad made with shredded green papaya, tomatoes, and peanuts).
Street food is also a popular option, with vendors selling a variety of snacks and meals, such as grilled meats, seafood, and fresh fruits. Visitors can also find many international cuisine options in Pattaya, such as Italian, Indian, Western and Chinese. For a unique and delicious food experience, visitors can try dining at a traditional Thai seafood restaurant on the beach, where they can enjoy fresh seafood while watching the sunset over the ocean.
Luckily I like Thai food, local food and spicy, wherever I am I can get something tasty and I also don't need bread for breakfast all the time anymore, I'm like a Thai, a fried rice is also nice on your sober stomach.
